Can I Unsubscribe from the LDI-Line E-Mail?
LDI does not distribute unauthorized copies of the LDI-Line On-Line. The LDI-Line is not "spam." We do not dump thousands of e-mails onto the Internet each day "hoping" that they arrive in somebody's e-mail box. You must either subscribe through one of our web pages or give us permission by voice or e-mail or provide us your e-mail address as part of a job listing on the LDI-Line web page. We save copies of permissions and subscription requests.
If you no longer want to receive our e-mail, Click Here to send us an e-mail asking us to remove you from our subscriber list. Please be sure to give us the e-mail address to which the e-mail is being sent. We will remove you promptly and confirm your removal by return e-mail.
I Subscribed to the FREE LDI-Line On-Line E-mail but I Don't Receive It Every Day. Why is That and What Can I Do to Assure Daily Delivery?
If you have subscribed to the FREE LDI-Line On-Line daily E-mail update but you do not receive your E-mail every day, we have some suggestions that may help. Click Here to review our tech bulletin on this.
Does it cost to have a job listed on the LDI-Line and placed in LDI's Plan Rooms?
No! Jobs bidding will be listed on the LDI-Line at no cost to the Architect or General Contractor. All we need is a complete set of plans and specifications (which will be returned once scanning is completed) and some additional information about the project (size, bid date, ect.) and the General Contractor(s) bidding (name of Project Manager, etc.) Printed drawings will be made available in all LDI Plan Rooms for review by qualified bidders (there are no membership or subscription fees for using LDI's Plan Rooms.) The only requirement is that the company or person who places the job on the LDI-Line keep us advised of addenda, bid date changes and other updates that affect the project.
Can more than one person view plans at the same time?
Yes! Up to 100 PC's can be logged on to LDI's viewable plans at one time. This means that many people in separate locations around town (or around the world, for that matter) can view plans together. An architect might want to discuss a particular problem with a Project Manager, for example, or a General Contractor can have a conference call with several subs who are bidding the job. All can view the same drawing(s) at the same time. There is no charge for this multi-user service and no special software is needed.; it is automatically built into every set of plans displayed on the LDI-Line On-Line and viewable though your browser.
How does LDI handle security issues regarding projects placed on-file?
LDI recognizes the importance of security and we offer customers the flexibility to handle a sensitive project in the most appropriate manner. Jobs can be placed on-file with LDI without the plans being viewable over the Internet or available for viewing in hard-copy format in our Plan Rooms. All jobs that are made available for viewing on the LDI-Line are encrypted so that they cannot be printed. In addition, LDI reserves the right to ask for photo (or other appropriate) identification before processing an order for any customer or company not known to us. Further, we purge our digital files of archived documents on sensitive projects so as to assure that prints are not available from us after a project is completed. Finally, LDI receives occasional security updates from authorities so that our security procedures support broader security objectives. If you have legitimate security concerns about your project, please discuss them with us when the project is placed on file.
Is there a charge to have LDI upload jobs to the web page for on-line viewing?
No! Jobs placed on-file with LDI are available for viewing through the LDI-Line and there is NEVER a charge to architects or GC's for this service. Also, there are no subscription fees charged to subs for viewing. It is a completely FREE service.
All of the drawings are available for viewing; why not the complete specification manual too?
Specification Manuals have a standardized Table of Contents (developed by the A.I.A) that is used almost universally by the construction industry. (The content of drawings, on the other hand, are not standardized.) Most sub-contractors and materials suppliers can tell just by looking at the Spec Manual Index (Table of Contents) whether or not there are specification sections that they need to read prior to submitting their bid. Therefore, posting just the Index is adequate to enable subs to decide whether or not to bid a job. If subs need to read specifications in-depth, they can order them from LDI.
Can I Search for specific information in the LDI-Line?
Yes! The easiest way is to use the "Control - F" keys on your keyboard to launch your browser's FIND program. The you can enter a word or series of words or numbers and press the "Enter" key. Each time you press Enter, the search moves to the next matching entry found. When all have been found, you are notified. Control - F works with either the Microsoft or Netscape browser.
How do I print Job Indexes?
Each job Index is a separate web page (usually a .PDF file.) This makes it easy for you to print out the Index. To print an Index, open it up in your web browser and then click on the "print" button ( you can use either your browser's print button or the print button on your Adobe Reader.) You can print in either color or black-and-white, depending upon how you have your printer commands set. You can also choose not to to print any background graphics by changing the settings on your printer software. Each Index is from one to six pages long, averaging four (4) pages, so be sure you have enough paper in your printer.
How do I print out the LDI-Line?
The LDI-Line On-Line is one big, long web page. DO NOT try to print out the entire LDI-Line On-Line unless you really need all of the information in hard-copy format. The LDI-Line is usually over seventy-five (75) pages long and if you try to print it through your web browser, you will end up with 75 pages of paper. To print small sections (individual jobs, for example), see below.
So how do I print only certain sections of the LDI-Line?
If you only need certain sections of the LDI-Line, use cut-and-paste techniques (control "C" to copy, control "V" to paste) with a word processor like Microsoft Word or Notepad or Wordpad to create a small document. Then, print the smaller document. Each individual job template is about one (1) page long (not counting the Index.)
Why can't I print Plans & Addendas that are posted on-line for viewing?
Plans & Addendas are posted in an encrypted format that allows viewing (reading with Adobe Acrobat Reader) but does not allow you to download or print. There are also possible security issues if drawings can be printed by unauthorized persons viewing plans on-line. If you need printed copy, you can contact LDI.
Why is the type so small when I view the LDI-Line?
The size of the type you see on your monitor is NOT controlled by the LDI web page - rather, it is controlled by the settings on the browser you are using. To enlarge the on-screen type size with Microsoft's Internet Explorer, go to the menu bar and click on "View," then click on "Text Size" and set the print size to whatever size is best for your eyesight or your monitor. If you use Netscape's browser, you can do the same thing by going to "View" on the menu bar and then selecting either the "Increase Font" or "Decrease Font" option.
Why is it that some new jobs listed on the LDI-Line do not have Indexes available immediately?
We list jobs as soon as we receive the prints so as to give you as much advance information as possible about new jobs, but the drawings and specifications have to be checked, scanned and uploaded to our servers before they are available to our customers. Depending upon workload, this may take an extra day. We do not delay posting a new job just because we have not yet checked the Indexes. If there is a delay in posting the Index, it is usually not more than a day. For more information about Indexes, Click Here.
Why is it that some new jobs listed on the LDI-Line are not available immediately for viewing at the LDI Plan Rooms and/or available for printing at all LDI locations?
New jobs listed on the LDI-Line may not be immediately available at all LDI locations or in the LDI Plan rooms. We list jobs as soon as we receive the prints so as to give you as much advance information as possible about new jobs, but the drawings and specifications have to be checked, scanned and uploaded to our servers before they are available to our customers. Depending upon workload, this may take an extra day. You should always allow some extra time for viewing or for print orders if the job is newly-listed; you might also call ahead to see if a new job is available at your nearest LDI location.
